Nature documentaries have been criticized for leaving viewers with the impression that wild animals survived and thrived after encounters with predators, even when they sustain potentially life-threatening injuries. They also cut away from particularly violent encounters, or attempt to downplay the suffering endured by the individual animal, by appealing to concepts such as the "balance of nature" and "the good of the herd".

Edison with special camera
The invention that first gained him wider notice was the phonograph in 1877. He vigorously stirred up public awareness for this new invention by engaging with journalists and performing public demonstrations. The phonograph was so unexpected by the public at large as to appear almost magical. Edison became known as "The Wizard of Menlo Park". As he aged, he grew to resent titles representing him as a genius, and he emphasized "one percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration."

Sights and Sounds
Films are produced by recording actual people and objects with cameras or by creating them using animation techniques and special effects. They comprise a series of individual frames, but when these images are shown rapidly in succession, the illusion of motion is given to the viewer. Flickering between frames is not seen due to an effect traditionally known as persistence of vision, and now more specifically known as flicker fusion, whereby the visual system processes a sufficiently fast succession of pictures and interruptions into a steady image of averaged brightness.

Home videos have had a place on TV since the early nineties. It all started in Japan. A popular studio program from Tokyo broadcast a few viewer-made videos in every episode. The funniest one was rewarded with a prize.
American program maker Vin Di Bona saw the potential for a show. And so America's Funniest Home Videos was born, starring Full House actor Bob Saget.12 jun 2026
Art in Motion
Photographic film is a strip or sheet of transparent film base coated on one side with a gelatin emulsion containing microscopically small light-sensitive silver halide crystals, for the purpose of taking photographs. The sizes and other characteristics of the crystals determine the sensitivity, contrast, and resolution of the film. Film is typically segmented in frames, which give rise to separate photographs.

In addition to the actual film crew that does the principal photography (unit), there may be a second team (second unit), which in turn comprises a full film crew with its own director, especially for more complex productions. The second unit works independently but in coordination with the director of the overall project and is responsible for city and landscape shots, establishing shots and intermediate images as well as for mass, action and stunt scenes.

According to one tradition, the puppet show figures are based on two residents of the Jordaan, Jan Klaassen and Katrijn Pieters. They were married in the Nieuwe Kerk in 1686. Catharina lived in the Tuinstraat, Jan in the Anjeliersstraat. She drank, and he did not like hard work. Jan Klaassen started a puppet show and entertained farmers, townspeople, and country folk by portraying his tumultuous married life. However, their marriage was plagued by so many irregularities that the church council of the Amsterdam Reformed congregation decided on January 21, 1706, to call the couple to account and subsequently placed them under supervision.According to one tradition, the puppet show figures are based on two residents of the Jordaan, Jan Klaassen and Katrijn Pieters. After announcing the return of Ektachrome at the beginning of 2017, Eastman Kodak CMO Steven Overman told The Kodakery podcast, "we are investigating Kodachrome, looking at what it would take to bring that back". Although the statement generated widespread media interest, it was subsequently conceded by an official at Kodak Alaris (which would be responsible for its production and sale) that the return of Kodachrome was probably impractical (due to the difficulty in restoring the now-dismantled infrastructure needed to support it) and therefore unlikely.

The Art Film
The first crisis in international film production happened around 1907. Cinema attendance stagnated. Higher-educated viewers lost interest in the simple slapstick and comical one-act films that dominated the theatres at that time. In many countries, there were debates about the value of this new entertainment industry. Reform movements protested against the scandalous and morally corrupting character of most films.

SLAPP
THEY WANT US TO BE SILENT. Corporate bullies abuse the legal system to silence the truth. They use intimidating lawsuits, also known as SLAPP lawsuits – such as the case that led to a staggering $345 million in damages against Greenpeace International and Greenpeace in the US – to silence anyone who stands up for the public interest. You cannot protect the planet if polluting companies like Energy Transfer, Shell, and Eni are given the chance to turn the courtroom into a playground for corporate bullies. They want to make the price of speaking out so high that ordinary people become too afraid to take the risk. Javier Bardem and Yasmin Finney have joined forces with the Greenpeace network to expose this tactic. We are not just defending a movement; we are defending our collective right to resist. We cannot afford to remain silent if we do not want to lose that right – watch, save, and share this video.
Explosion of touristshops
Its historic network of canals and bridges has led to Amsterdam’s moniker of ‘Venice of the North’; however in recent years less favourable comparisons have been drawn between the two cities. Just like Venice, Amsterdam is struggling to stem the tide of tourists that floods its streets every year as overtourism blights another European city. Many Amsterdam residents consider the number of tourists – around 20 million a year – to be unsustainable, and the situation is stretching Amsterdam’s hospitality to its limits.

Film preservation, or film restoration, describes a series of ongoing efforts among film historians, archivists, museums, cinematheques, and non-profit organizations to rescue decaying film stock and preserve the images they contain. In the widest sense, preservation assures that a movie will continue to exist in as close to its original form as possible.[1]
For many years the term "preservation" was synonymous with "duplication" of film. The goal of a preservationist was to create a durable copy without any significant loss of quality. In more modern terms, film preservation includes the concepts of handling, duplication, storage, and access. The archivist seeks to protect the film and share its content with the public.

One of the most important things to keep in mind when creating a shot list is to be as detailed as possible. Each shot should be given a unique number and described in detail, including the camera angle, movement, and framing. This level of detail helps the director and cinematographer stay on the same page and ensures that everyone knows what is expected of them on set.
