About C'est le Toon

A cinematographer used to be thought of as a film artist, but cinematographers are creators of original works - whether it's film or video. All of us who use a camera to make original video are artists in one form or another and having good skills in all areas of the production process pays off.

I am a Dutch amateurfilmer and homevideo enthusiast. The majority of thesefilms on this site are samples of my short videos, edited with iMovie and sometimes compressed with Quicktime.

During downloading or watching you can read the corresponding texts and movie-related tips and techniques.

Many people take the moving image for granted. They frequently assume that the images they see are a true and accurate portrayal of the events of “what is happening”. Of course this can be in part explained by the fact that the visual image is far more seductive than the written word. This is because we impose our own meaning on what we see. The idea that “I won′t believe it until I see it” is very significant here.
It is important, therefore, to learn to evaluate film as evidence. This can be achieved by understanding more about the process of filmmaking by investigating how the content and nature of a film can be determined by editing, use of montage, choice of camera angles, target audience and so on. Therefore, we must consider how films are produced in order to ask what they can tell us. We must study what films show us and how they show it.

One can think of digital storytelling as the modern extension of the ancient art of storytelling, now interwoven with digitized still and moving images and sound. Thanks to new media and digital technologies, individuals can approach storytelling from unique perspectives. Many people use elaborate non-traditional story forms, such as non-linear.

C’est le Toon always attempts to find rights owners often without success but is eager to hear from them so that we may obtain permission, if needed.
Upon request, digitized works can be removed from public view if there are rights issues that need to be resolved.
