11/11 happening

11/11 originates from poverty. In the Middle Ages, people also fasted before Christmas, but then out of poverty, because the meat from November (the slaughter month) had to be kept until Christmas and they started with that on November 12. The day before, the non-perishable products were quickly decorated festively. It was already a holiday at the time; namely St. Martin's Day. St. Martin's Day marks the dark period before Christmas. Forty days after the eleventh of the eleventh is December 21, the shortest day of the year. At the end of the St. Martin's Day celebration, St. Martin's Day fasting began. Just as carnival precedes the Lent before Easter, St. Martin's Day precedes the preparation for Christmas.
