 Van de Ven's film debut as an actress was in the Paul Verhoeven film Turkish Delight in 1973. This film was an immediate breakthrough for her acting career. It was nominated for an Academy Award and was chosen as the best Dutch film of the century. Thirteen years later, she starred in The Assault, which won the 1986 Academy Award for Best International Feature Film. Apart from acting in feature films, she also performs in Dutch television series and commercials.

The idiom “outside the lines” is a newly evolved version of the original phrase “colour outside the lines.” This phrase refers to young children’s colouring books with the pre-printed pictures on the pages, ready to be coloured in. Teachers, educators and parents always want to train young motor skills by encouraging children to colour ‘inside’ the lines. So, the saying ‘colour outside the lines’ has been adopted into popular usage over the last few decades in relation to anyone not conforming to the ‘accepted norm’.

The trend, which originated in Asia and also spread to the Netherlands, led to significant attention on platforms like TikTok and Instagram, and significant growth for the company that produces the figures, Pop Mart.

 Hans Florian Zimmer; born 12 September 1957) is a German film composer and music producer. He has received numerous accolades, including two Academy Awards, a BAFTA Award, and three Golden Globe Awards as well as nominations for five Grammy Awards and seven Emmy Awards.. His works are notable for integrating electronic music sounds with traditional orchestral arrangements. Since the 1980s, Zimmer has composed music for over 150 films. Zimmer spent the early part of his career in the United Kingdom before moving to the United States.  His studio in Santa Monica, California, has an extensive range of computer equipment and keyboards, allowing demo versions of film scores to be created quickly.

 Time-lapse photography is a technique in which the frequency at which film frames are captured (the frame rate) is much lower than the frequency used to view the sequence. When played at normal speed, time appears to be moving faster and thus lapsing. For example, an image of a scene may be captured at 1 frame per second but then played back at 30 frames per second; the result is an apparent 30 times speed increase. Processes that would normally appear subtle and slow to the human eye, such as the motion of the sun and stars in the sky or the growth of a plant, become very pronounced.  Jaws was the first major motion picture to be shot on the ocean and consequently had a troubled production, going over budget and schedule. As the art department's mechanical sharks often malfunctioned, 

Spielberg decided to mostly suggest the shark's presence, employing an ominous and minimalist theme created by composer John Williams to indicate its impending appearances. Spielberg and others have compared this suggestive approach to that of director Alfred Hitchcock. Universal Pictures released the film to over 450 screens, an exceptionally wide release for a major studio picture at the time, accompanied by an extensive marketing campaign with heavy emphasis on television spots and tie-in merchandise.

Day for night is a set of cinematic techniques used to simulate a night scene while filming in daylight. It is often employed when it is too difficult or expensive to actually film during nighttime. Because both film stocks and digital image sensors lack the sensitivity of the human eye in low light conditions, night scenes recorded in natural light, with or without moonlight, may be underexposed to the point where little or nothing is visible.[1] This problem can be avoided by using daylight to substitute for darkness. When shooting day for night, the scene is typically underexposed in-camera or darkened during post-production, with a blue tint added. Additional effects are often used to heighten the impression of night.

An optical effect might be used to place actors or sets against a different background. Since the 1990s, computer-generated imagery (CGI) has come to the forefront of special effects technologies. It gives filmmakers greater control, and allows many effects to be accomplished more safely and convincingly and—as technology improves—at lower costs.  The Cinema Museum is a museum in Kennington, London. Its collection was founded in 1986 by Ronald Grant and Martin Humphries, from their own private collection of cinema history and memorabilia. Its current building was once a workhouse where Charlie Chaplin lived as a child. The workhouse has a link to cinema history as Charlie Chaplin lived there as a child when his mother faced destitution. The museum runs a programme of talks and events and is currently open by appointment for tours.

 Hill of Crosses is a site of pilgrimage about 12 km north of the city of Šiauliai, in northern Lithuania. The precise origin of the practice of leaving crosses on the hill is uncertain, but it is believed that the first crosses were placed on the former Jurgaičiai or Domantai hill fort after the 1831 Uprising. Over the generations, not only crosses and crucifixes, but statues of the Virgin Mary, carvings of Lithuanian patriots and thousands of tiny effigies and rosaries have been brought here by Catholic pilgrims. The exact number of crosses is unknown, but estimates put it at about 55,000 in 1990[3] and 100,000 in 2006. It is a major site of Catholic pilgrimage in Lithuania.

 Agnès Varda was a Belgian-born French film director, screenwriter and photographer. Varda's work employed location shooting in an era when the limitations of sound technology made it easier and more common to film indoors, with constructed sets and painted backdrops of landscapes, rather than outdoors, on location. Her use of non-professional actors was also unconventional for 1950s French cinema. Director Martin Scorsese described Varda as "one of the Gods of Cinema". Varda intended to become a museum curator, and studied art history at the École du Louvre,[8] but decided to study photography at the Vaugirard School of Photography instead.[9] She began her career as a still photographer before becoming one of the major voices of the Left Bank Cinema and the French New Wave. This can be snapshot-videos of animals moving, traffic signals, eclipses, scientific experiments or people performing activities. They can be time-lapses, or slow-motion. These kind of videos help readers seing how things work, and might be better than using a still image. Some of these videos are easy to produce, but limited in what information they can convey. A good quality video will need stabilization of the image

Editing is one of the most important tools a filmmaker has to express themselves and/or tell a story. Existing images can take on a completely different meaning through editing—the way they are placed together or "arranged"—for example, by allowing the images to flow smoothly together, or by creating excessive contrast, effectively determines the viewer's final feeling once the film is finished. A key element of editing is sound (music, background noise, speech). This allows for different versions of the same images to be told. Sound can enhance the impact of the images.

 From 1894 to the late 1920s, movies were silent films. Silent film actors emphasized body language and facial expression, so that the audience could better understand what an actor was feeling and portraying on screen. The expression "Kill your darlings" is often attributed to British author Sir Arthur Quiller-Couch, who advised, in a lecture series on style and writing, to "Murder your darlings." This term was later popularized by writers like William Faulkner and Stephen King, who emphasized the importance of critically examining your own work and eliminating unnecessary elements, no matter how beautiful they may be.

 A dissolve overlaps two shots for the duration of the effect, usually at the end of one scene and the beginning of the next, but may also be used in montage sequences. Generally, but not always, the use of a dissolve is held to indicate that a time has passed between the two scenes. Also, it may indicate a change of location or the start of a flashback.

Salvador Dalí and Luis Buñuel reportedly carried rocks in their pockets during the premiere of their first film Un Chien Andalou, anticipating a violent reaction from the audience. It was a fair concern. The movie might be almost 90 years old but it still has the power to provoke – the film features a shot of a woman getting her eye slashed open with a straight razor after all. As it turned out, rocks weren’t needed. The audience, filled with such avant-garde luminaries as Pablo Picasso and André Breton liked the film. A disappointed Dalí later reported that the night was “less exciting” than he had hoped.

 The exhibition reveals not only what people eat, but also who eats it, when, and where. Prints, paintings, drawings, and photographs demonstrate how food culture serves as both a reflection of the city and a driving force for urban development. Old maps depict markets and eateries, such as inner-city inns, country estates where the elite grew vegetables, stately canal houses with staff in the kitchens, and 19th-century middle-class and working-class neighborhoods where a very different food culture prevailed. In the 18th century, many influences came from France; a century later, chic restaurants modeled on Parisian cuisine appeared. Various immigrant cuisines entered the scene, and sandwich shops and snack bars became a defining feature of the streetscape. Time and again, new foods become iconic for Amsterdam.

Chronophotography is a photographic technique from the Victorian era which captures a number of phases of movements. The best known chronophotography works were mostly intended for the scientific study of locomotion, to discover practical information for animal handlers and/or as reference material for artists. Although many results were not intended to be exhibited as moving pictures, there is much overlap with the more or less simultaneous quest to register and exhibit photographic motion pictures.

Collage made from photographs, or parts of photographs, is called photomontage. Photomontage is the process (and result) of making a composite photograph by cutting and joining a number of other photographs. The composite picture was sometimes photographed so that the final image is converted back into a seamless photographic print. The same method is accomplished today using image-editing software. The technique is referred to by professionals as compositing.

Dance moves or dance steps (more complex dance moves are called dance patterns, dance figures, dance movements, or dance variations) are usually isolated, defined, and organized so that beginning dancers can learn and use them independently of each other. However, more complex movements are influenced by musicality and lyrical relevance to express emotions or refer to a message. Dance moves tend to emphasize the concepts of lead and follow and connection. In most cases, dance moves by themselves are independent of musicality, which is the appropriateness of a move to the music (for a notable exception, see Bharatanatyam). Generally, they are memorized in sets of eight counts. Also there are two different movements: concrete and abstract. These two movements show time, space, relationship, quality and focus. For example, relationship could describe the movement of two or more different dancers. The names of moves may be somewhat arbitrary and vary from person to person and city to city.
